So this guy looses his job because his show dips into the red by millions but idk what this has to do with trump if someone can enlighten me besides the fact the they are on opposing political sides

He always goes too far but no one ever holds him accountable for it.

They’re just words until someone acts on them.

    3. FCC Chair gives typical Trump toadie non-response (I swear they are trained on this tactic, as I’ve seen identical performances by all of them) Simple, direct yes/no question = no answer, just an unending stream of bullshit words / sounds: „Well here’s what’s important to keep in mind as a broader dynamic….blah blah blah“ Puke!

    4. I think we’re past norms. Most citizens probably have no idea what the constitution should mean; certainly in my lifetime, the rich just do what they want.

Ok, he raped children but canceling a TV show is too far?

Great priorities America. No wonder you are at total disarray.

      „War on the First Amendment“?

No, this is far more childish and narcissistic than that because it’s Trump.

This is **war on anyone who doesn’t like him**.

Paramount/CBS cancelled Colbert. It’s not a first amendment violation, it’s fascism within the constitution

Trump does ignore the 1st amendment and other parts of the constitution daily, but not in this case

So… paramount cancels Colbert, and then paramount signs for 5 seasons, Southpark and is cool with Satan in bed with Trump and micro-wee? What’s the logic?

    9. donald raped children and apparently that’s not „too far“. so some fucking TV show ain’t shit to these people.

    10. This needs to be exhibit A when a democrat congress holds anti trust hearings. They’re so big, grown so fat on mergers, they are vulnerable to this extortion. Break them up. Don’t let any one entity own too many media outlets. Particularly on commons mediums.

I thought colbert was costing the network too much money? Now its trumps fault?

He’s pressuring for Kimmel and Fallon as well. Trump is awake those hours and watches a lot of tv. He only wants the hosts who don’t tell jokes about him like Gutfeld to remain on the air.

Imagine if Biden or Obama had pressured Fox News to cancel one of their shows for being critical of him. You would see such a conservative outcry over big government. Hell, the “Tea Party” was up at arms when the “we don’t wanna pay taxes” groups were being audited by the IRS.

Such hypocrisy of the right…it’s just disappointing. You’d think you wouldn’t have to work so hard to silence voices and suppress votes if your agenda was the right one.

    14. Colbert has a home in South Carolina’s District 1. Republican Nancy Mace is the Rep there. Colbert should run for SC District 1. Colbert:s ability to bring attention to that race and potentially bring voters off from the sideline would be greater than any Democrat in that district.

We don’t need another substack or Podcast. I am show Colbert could score a Netflix series or something but I rather see him fight back for real.

    15. There’s literally a “bias monitor” in place at CBS now. Can you imagine the outrage if Obama had put a “bias monitor” in place at FOX?!?

    16. Colbert has been hamstrung by being on broadcast TV, on a popular network, on a well known show.

Unleashing Colbert’s first amendment rights, on a non-broadcast TV platform? Can’t imagine Colbert going lightly.

Wait a news cycle. Grabbing innocent people off the street and putting them in foreign torture prisons wasn’t too far either.

If it still unclear to someone, he has double standards for everything. All for him, nothing for these against him. Every single thing you can think of, there is no limits.

    19. Trump could literally go out to shoot someone dead in the face and they’d all still rally behind him.

    20. Yes. That’s too far. Not the pedophilia, the kidnappings or the destruction what this country was. This.

    21. Let’s not forget all those behind the deal. Paramount, CBS, the Ellisons (Larry and sons) who get their millions from Oracle software. All of them are eroding free speech.

    22. d_e_l_u_x_e on

For me it was Trump sending ICE to kidnap and illegally detain a student for exercising her first amendment rights and criticizing the genocide in Gaza. But they’ll be enough authoritarianism in the next three years to pick more from.

    23. This headline pisses me off so much. THIS is what’s considered to be too far for MSNBC!? Not the countless cases of people being arrested for peacefully protesting or speaking out against Israel’s warcrimes like Mahmoud Khalil!?

    24. Remember when the couch molester was badgering people about freedom of speech? I do and it seems almost funny now.

    25. Gone to far? He’s been breaking civil liberties since his first term.
Started the treaths long before he even considered running for president.

    26. Here is the deal: we’re letting CBS and Paramount off the hook too much here. They sold their souls to get a merger approved. Their greed is much stronger than any integrity they may have had left. We can assume Trump told CBS they had to cancel Colbert in order for the merger to be approved, and they folded like a cheap suit. Then they told Paramount that they needed to allow the „bias monitor“ in order for their side of the merger to be approved. They also folded like a lawn chair trying to hold up Trump’s ass. Skydance didn’t need to bother folding because they were already a Trump ally.

We keep focusing on Trump and his demands, while just ignoring that these companies put up no fight against him. This is all the result of deregulation where investors own everything and think exclusively with their wallets.

We should be boycotting all CBS programming as well as Paramount+.

Every decent person on earth will rejoice with involuntary dancing, laughter and cocktails when Trump the Child Sex Trafficker is dead in the ground.
