A commission, basically. You find fees to charge, you get a cut.

How many bags can the average clerk spot in a working month, that makes it worth to rat out a random moron for a slightly larger backpack (plus potential argument/commotion and stress)?
I once almost had to pay a fine for a 20L backpack, simply because the form factor was a bit weird.
Well, to be honest, it surely it’s an unpopular opinion, but if the dimensions, weight, etc are clear…. Being mad about being “caught” going above such is …. Well… kind of ridiculous
It’s a lose / lose situation for the airline because people will be annoyed off when they are more strict on cabin bags, but also annoyed when there is no cabin bag space because of everyone bringing on bags and they have to gate check.
Say what you want about Ryanair, but if you stick within the rules – in this case baggage size – you will be fine.
Good. Sucks having to sit with my bag under the seat in front of me cause I did the right thing.. when the overheads get full and they come around asking anyone with small bags to give up their legroom for the douches who brought suitcases.
I thought they were already doing this as I’ve seen cabin staff just lie and charge people for bags that clearly fit lol
Tbh, i’ve only had good experiences with Ryanair. Respect the rules, and everything will be fine
Well, the tariff is preety clear. You want budget – you can take one bag – fixed size..
I was flying with them and EVERYONE was measured. But guess what – flight was on time there were no delusional chicks with their stuffed pillows.

Guys, it’s not that difficult, go to Amazon and type Ryanair sized backpack, and there you go, that’s your personal item max capacity. Then do the same for the small suitcase. There you go. People wanted cheap tickets, now we all have to adapt because of it. Or flight with another airline. Myself, I’ve been using Ryanair because it has flights to more destinations from my local airport. I pay for a big suitcase, assigned seats, and prepare mentally for the hassle. And I’ve flown with other airlines, pricier, with worse punctuality, have lost my suitcases or have them rubbed over by a truck on the airport (literally, I saw it happening on the way to the plane).
Did someone try paying with credit card and claiming a chargeback? ..
Aren’t they already provably doing this? Isn’t it common knowledge?

This is great. It’s so frustrating to see assholes sneaking huge carry-ons on board taking up all the bin space.
Wow, compared to a bonus of $1.75, subtly bribing them with a large candy bar or $5 almost sounds practical.
I’ve never been happier than when i decided to travel lighter and never have to worry about oversized hand luggage or luggage check in fees.
