This is what happens when the NDP or Greens don’t have enough seats to hold the Liberals accountable. Now they’ll drag their feet on this to the maximum possible extent, dangling it in front of voters while appeasing the pharma/insurance lobby.
So first they wouldn’t commit to expanding the program to cover more drugs, as it was designed and agreed, and now they won’t even commit to finish implementing the current phase? So if your province wasn’t able to negotiate a deal before now then you’re just out of luck?

Good, Carney knows Justin should have never implemented it or the dental plan in the first place. Simply not affordable. Nice we actually have an adult and businessman in charge.

This is actually very annoying. You can’t just say „oh it’s a new government“ so we’re gonna go backsies on the last government’s promise, when it’s like, the same governing party??? I get that our priorities have changed and I am fully on-board with all the public service reviews; but the LPC promised to protect Pharmacare. I won’t get bent out of shape yet as it sounds like it’s still a work in progress:

I do not regret my vote, but I do regret Carney is the one everyone backed. I know, best chance against PP, PP dangerous. But like… holy fuck. He’s barely better than PP. He won’t get rid of the CBC, that’s good, yet is asking for cuts. He won’t cut pharmacare, but won’t actually finish implementing it. Like, that is completely fucked up. It should be available to ALL provinces, not just the ones quick enough to sign with Trudeau. Tax cuts, military increases. Staff cuts, program cuts. The poor will pay for it all.
When you see the word “protect” in a political party platform, like the liberals had for dental care and pharmacies, it’s a cute word to say not “expand”
With the threats of tariffs on pharmaceuticals I suspect drug companies may not be interested in a deal until or if the financial situation with America stabilizes
