Ich habe meine Meinung, aber ich werde es für mich behalten. Aber ich denke, die Chance wurde zu Beginn der 2000er Jahre vermisst. Die Chance für die Ukraine, einen starken Staat zu bauen, wurde vermisst ….."

Aliyev is giga dumb to place his bet on Turkey instead of Russia. Turkey and all its allies will be first to be sacrificed to Israel. I’m not even talking about instant profit – making business with Russia is more profitable than with Turkey
Putin and Aliev are two politicians of the same autocratic bent. They always understood each other. And there is some significant reason for the discord. And this is not an airplane, not a helicopter, and not the detention of representatives of ethnic criminal groups. Something more significant has happened.
Aliyev is just like any other smaller nations leader is playing both sides to extract as much short term benefit as possible. Plus his personal ego. This is nothing new for regional politics or politicians. Situational alliances will always remain as the main tool for maintaining regional power and getting the most from a much larger geopolitical confrontation in East-West relationships. Right now we’re looking at yet another phase of regional politics.
Just like how relationships switch over time I assume that the same could happen again in the future. In Syria ,Russia still has some military bases (Khmeimim and Tartus ) . Time will tell whether things will improve

Then in 5 months Syrian Christmas surprise occured. Then in 6 months Iranian airspace became Israelian. Aliyev definitely read „Art of War“.
