Those are coots! A close relative of the moorhen distinguished by their larger size and white beaks as opposed to red ones
Lovely snaps. These are coots rather than moorhens. You can tell because the parents‘ beaks and „knobs“ (that is what they’re called!) are white rather than red.

Lovely picks… I’ve seen chick’s grow up in the blessington basin this year, ill have to double check if they are coots or moorhens now 🙂
