I’m getting tired of our constant high-horse commentary on the rest of the world. People here are so far removed from real tangible problems on the scale Haiti is facing and it’s easy for us to play the noble, virtuous nation without a real internal threat like that. Is it “right,” probably not objectively, but considering over 5000 people were killed by gang violence and over a million people displaced from their homes last year alone, it’s clear a normal “non-lethal” approach hasn’t worked.

This country hasn’t had a functioning government in at least my lifetime. The people of that country will never known a prosperious life in the rest of my lifetime, unfortunetly. Canada has done more than most other countries in trying to help the people of Haiti. I find it difficult to condemn anything their government does to try to get some sense of order.
