In a world increasingly ruled by tech companies, some of the industry’s most powerful figures appear to be quietly drafting blueprints for the near future. There’s just one catch: it may or may not be a democratic one.

In an interview on „Decoder,“ a podcast by The Verge, tech journalist Gil Duran outlines a disturbing theory that a growing number of Silicon Valley elites are pursuing a vision of power not rooted in the common good, but in profit, feudal hierarchy, and total control of the platforms that define daily life for hundreds of millions of people.
Duran dubs this emerging ideology the „Nerd Reich“ — a slurry of right-wing ideas championed by ruthless tech overlords like Palantir founder Peter Thiel, Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, venture capitalist Marc Andreessen, and cryptocurrency titan Brian Armstrong, with some OpenAI CEO Sam Altman sprinkled in for good measure. Drawing on the reactionary writings of Curtis „Mencius Moldbug“ Yarvin and the cryptolibertarianism of tech investor Balaji Srinivasan, this philosophy isn’t explicitly outlined by our billionaire overlords, but is nonetheless a useful framework that explains their increasingly undemocratic actions.

    2. Or, hear me out, OBVIOUSLY working to implement „Corporate Dictatorship“

    3. Please just buy your weird islands wherever, found your weird not-nations or kingdoms or whatever and leave us alone. Why tf do you have to take our democracies down with you?

What quiet? They’ve been bragging about this for years. Thiel especially had done a lot to move in that direction.

    5. The vast majority of history has been the wealthy playing out their fantasies while everyone else tries to survive them.

    6. Quietly? QUIETLY? Are we living in the same reality? They have a flashing neon sign and searchlights with fireworks, cheerleaders and mascots.

They actually want to take it even further than that and have feudal mega cities that are independently run but with the President becoming the ultimate CEO figure. It’s the long term plan for Project 25.

This video was originally released right before the election and if I saw I then, I would’ve scoffed at it and said these people are crazy. But, I saw it in February with my jaw hitting the floor because a lot of it was already coming to shape even that early on.

Tech bros are psychotic and want to absolutely destroy America so they can play God.

    8. Tech billionaires: „you work for me or you get erased from the tech world“

    9. This is not the first time the elites in this country have exploited the working class. We are in the midst of a 21st century gilded age. All it takes is enough people to get tired of it and elect politicians whom will bring about a 21st century progressive era.

They talk about it interviews. Hahaha. Its not quiet. People just dont care

Fixed: Tech Billionaires ~~Accused of Quietly~~ Working to Implement „Corporate Dictatorship“

    12. I’m glad that one guy died. Do we think it has hampered or emboldened their cause?

    13. Breaking: People with power work to gather more power. Not seen since every day in the last 10,000 years!

We need to politely, but firmly outlaw billionaires. And change the public’s view of it from successful businessmen to gluttonous danger to society. they are Smaug, effectively. So, you get to 999,999,999 and you’re cut off. The rest goes to the government to fund things needed by the country. They still have enough to jet around, but not enough to pull this kind of shit.

Reminds me I need to cancel a lot of subscriptions!

You can’t be fighting this stuff with a Netflix and Amazon subscription.

Delete the Facebook app from your phone, and use your browser to use it if you have to.

Same with other social media apps.

I feel like there is a term for “Corporate Dictatorship” already… it’s on the tip of my tongue. If only we’d already been through something like this to head it off.

    17. Ready-Ad6113 on

Their “Corporate Dictatorship” solely depends on our tax dollars (and willingness to work) to fund the infrastructure and electric grid to keep their AI and factories running. Once the power goes out they’re screwed.

    18. This is really shocking! We should keep being mad at each other while they take it all away.

    19. > Sci-fi author: In my book, I invented the Torment Nexus as a cautionary tale
      > Tech Billionaire: At long last, we created the Torment Nexus from the classic Sci-fi novel „Don’t create the Torment Nexus“

TechBros keep trying to make a cyberpunk reality without realizing that they’re the villain in all those stories.

This isn’t an accusation. It’s clear and present danger. It’s happening and has been citizens United was passed. Real questions can it even be fixed (answer is likely no w/o its repeal) and so a full on aggressive posture needs to be taken

    21. Why do these grifters think they are so much better and smarter than everyone else. If you listen to most of them speak they are sweaty, stuttering buffoons that throw out philosophy from the first to chapters of freshmen reading. Take Thiel for instance, all he did was create lay away online. Zuckerberg literally made Myspace for college kids then grew it using an exclusivity based marketing mix.

None of what they do is that creative. They just have a lot of money and we have this absurd idea that makes someone intelligent.

Even if they somehow manage to obtain the control and power they crave, it’s going to be like a dumb kid finding his dad’s loaded gun for the first time and thinking it’s a toy.

If you hate people so much and have all that money just get an island and keep to yourself. It’s not that hard. All these guys are, are the weird dudes from high school that nobody liked. They weren’t jocks, band kids, theater nerds, cool kids, stoners, or anybody with their own crowd. Just the weirdos that made noises in class then got angry when people called their asinine ideas dumb.

God they piss me off so much.
