Carney wasn’t elected to strike a trade deal with Trump. He was elected to strike trade deals with our remaining allies.
Keeping the CUSMA exemption is more important than reaching any supposed “deal” that mean nothing legally. Because of the CUSMA exemption, over 80% of Canadian goods entering in the U.S in May were tariff free. As long as we retain this exemption, Canada would remain one of the less tariffed country.
Apparently everyone and their grandmother has known there won’t be a deal for months now but the media is somehow just now coming to terms with it.
just let Americans over pay for everything – its not like they are doing it to just Canadians – they are adding tariff to the whole world while chasing out low wage workers via ICE. Its not going to magically move industry in.
it wont hurt Canada in long run – if Americans want to pay more for their stuff let them !
