Singapore’s response to the attack has been unusually forceful as the country appears to be attempting to deter future attacks on the country, which are continually getting worse. The current attack comes amid an increasingly aggressive campaign of cyber espionage and strategic positioning that Chinese state-affiliated hackers have conducted in recent years. Many of the attacks appear to target the US and its allies and partners over support for Taiwan.
