‚The Ottawa convoy protests saw frustration over public health measures during the COVID-19 pandemic come to a crescendo in the winter of 2022. The demonstrations drew in supporters who took issue with vaccine mandates, as well as those who carried anti-government sentiments. They were highly criticized by many business owners, downtown Ottawa residents, the mayor of the City of Ottawa and other politicians.‘
The 2022 Ottawa occupation put the entire city under seige and cost millions in property damage. The sentences need to serve as a deterrent to criminal behavior masquerading as political protest.
You have people with 50 to 100 plus convictions in this country that get slaps on the wrist. You have people getting less for stabbing people.
Anyone else notice that the ‚if you can’t do the time, don’t do the crime‘ folks do an abrupt about face when it’s the Convoy… er… 51st State folks that are on trial?
Those opposed to the principals of the convoy are thirsty for punishment of those involved, while ignoring the serious implications for other future peaceful protests. The message from the federal government and the crown prosecutor is clear: oppose the government and be crushed.
Oh awesome! That’s way more than I was hoping for. I love this for those seditious scumbags. Way too many others got away with also sorts of petty and minor crimes, and avoided what should have been massive fines. That’s bleeding heart Trudeau for ya. If there was ever a time you wanted him to act like Harper would have, that was it. But he did sweep them away bloodlessly and really took the air out of their balloon, so perhaps it was smarter than just squashing them like they deserved.
Where’s my tough on crime conservatives at? Law and Order, right guys?
