You mean the thing they’ve been insisting doesn’t happen at all and have been arresting people for pointing out when they put very clearly adult men into schools with children?.

56% of children were actually adults? That’s an insane number. Over 50% lied regarding information on admission, how can anything they said be trusted?. What happens if they are found to have lied

My friend had a 30 year old guy in his year 11 class. We don’t need AI to deal with this.

OK, obviously sussing out people posing as kids is a good thing, etc. Etc.
I am just fed up of people thinking AI is fucking magic.

People are just saying „let’s use AI“ for all problems now aren’t they

I spoke to a policewoman I know through friends at a party, who told me about a shocking case. A man, believed to be around 27 years old, was found attending a class of 11 to 12 year olds. He had allegedly touched one of girls, both the girl and the man were considered vulnerable, especially since the man was claiming to be 11 years old lol and had lost his family and other stuff
The teacher suspected he was much older, around 27 I think but without proper identification or a passport, there was no immediate way to prove his age. Although we removed him from the school we can’t prove his age.
The policewoman said they receive many cases like this. As she put it, “It is what it is.”

Just end the farce, end the asylum system completely and only allow special programmes like with Ukraine and Hong Kong.
This situation is so ridiculous, especially when the country is on the verge of bankruptcy.

This is insane. This is just an excuse to have a robot falsely label a bunch of children as poseurs to excuse throwing them out of the country – This is intended to fail because that’s the only place this tech is at right now.

I don’t really understand how it will change anything.
Sure people will get flagged, and let’s face it, in most cases it is easy to say if someone is over 18 without needing AI.
But, proof will still be required. So AI isn’t going to replace what a human does.

This is a really awful idea.
AI has massive flaws and biases. I don’t remotely trust it to accurately assess anyone’s age. Doubly so for known racial biases in AI training data that often make anything to do with facial recognition far less accurate for non white people.
Realistically, I can’t see a situation where an AI is going to do a better job at assessing a person’s age than a human can do. Talking to someone, seeing how they act and respond, seems a far more reasonable way to assess their age.

They are aware that facial rec and AI has often mislabelled people as shop-lifters even if they aren’t?
There is an error rate.

Never forget the government allowed a 30 year old foreign man to sit in a classroom full of kids
> Border Security and Asylum Minster Angela Eagle said that the AI is trained on millions of images of faces and was „able to produce an age estimate with a known degree of accuracy for an individual whose age is unknown or disputed“.
Will the department use the technology from Persona?
Wondering with all the ai technology, won’t it be also great to apply in telephone conversation with people claiming benefits which use digital voice I’d and fingerprinting to estimate age and also check truthy or falsy during the conversation such as *have you been spending time looking for a job?* In which the ai could tell if the applicant is lying and warrant a sanction?
