Gestern Abend hatte ich ein Drive-by-Shooting neben meinem Haus, nicht die erste. Sie schießen von der Straße und rennen los, bevor jemand sie überhaupt sehen kann. Es liegt direkt vor meinem Wohnzimmer. Als ich den Schuss hörte, den ich sah und sah, dass es auf den Boden kam.
Offensichtlich werden hier ein paar Gesetze gebrochen, also rief ich den Gardaí an und sie kamen ziemlich schnell herum, aber die Hoffnung, sie zu finden, war ohne Beschreibung des Autos schlank. Ich wollte, dass es protokolliert wird, damit mehr Ressourcen zugewiesen werden können und fair sein kann, dass wir eine bewaffnete Reaktion haben, um diese Bastarde zu fangen.
Also habe ich für die nächste Woche einen Kadaver vor meinem Wohnzimmerfenster, der von Füchsen in einem grausigen Display zerrissen wird. Darüber hinaus sehen wir, dass ein junger Hirsch 21 Stunden nach dem Schuss am Körper anbleibt. Das ist eindeutig die Mutter.
Ich hoffe, wenn der Hirsch wie jeden Abend vom Berg herabkommt, schließt sich dieser Kleine ihnen an. Wir haben gerade einen Apfel in der Nähe dieser Stelle geworfen und ein Fuchs kam heraus, um ihn zu essen, sodass ich nicht vorhabe, dass ich die Chancen überlebte, die Nacht zu überleben.
Wir haben NPWS angerufen, aber sie haben nur einen Ranger in der Gegend, der einfach nicht dafür ausgerüstet ist. Die einzige lokale Wildtierrettung wurde geschlossen. Es ist so gut wie unmöglich, eines davon in einem offenen Bereich zu fangen.
Ich weiß, dass es niemanden gibt, der anrufen kann, nichts, was getan werden kann, und niemand wird verantwortlich gemacht, und ich bin nur ein bisschen beschissen, dass wir jeden Tag Menschen wie diese terrorisieren, und es sind regelmäßige Leute und ihre Kinder, die das Schrecken miterleben und mit den Folgen umgehen müssen.

I deer hunt, the season in Ireland is designed exactly for this reason. what kind of heartless idiots do this sort of thing?

That’s a really scummy thing to do, should have their gun license take off them. Cameras with resolution to read license plates is all I can think of for future incidents.
Just in case anyone doesn’t know. This isn’t what hunters do. I’m living overseas now but nothing about this event would be legal in Canada and you’d get fined around 5k and probably have your license removed permanently, your „hunting“ / poaching equipment(gun + car) would be seized. Shooting from the road, using a car as a rest. Shooting on land without permission. Shooting without game tags. Allowing the carcass to rot and not be harvested. Shooting out of season. I don’t think the deer hunting season is even open in Ireland for another month. All of that’s against the law.
If the sick dirtbags have a regular spot for their macho-cosplay, is it possibly to set up a battery-powered trail camera etc. to gain some evidence?
That’s awful… shooting a deer for food is fair enough (in season and not with a fawn), but shooting an animal with young for zero reason but the joy of killing is sickening.

I get hunting for meat, and ‚pest control‘ (to a degree). But this is just mindless killing for sport. It takes a deranged, dangerous mind to think to be at this sort of thing.

Aside from the obvious horror of what they’ve done to the deer & it’s baby, it’s absolutely mental that anyone is taking shots so close to a person’s house.
Unfortunately a herd won’t accept that calf,best of a bad situation is to get a good local deer hunter who has an out of season ticket (section 42) and dispatch the calf,very very rare for a calf to survive without its mother,until she knows it’s time for the calf to survive on its own,calf is just gonna die of starvation

That’s dirt. And as a hunter myself, that’s pure evil. You never kill a hind with a calf. Red deer gave birth back in May/June, so that calf is still young.
Calves can be very timid, and if you went out looking in long grass, there’s a very good chance it’s just hiding there. A calf will hide in long grass to allow its mother to feed so she can make milk. They tend to do this until they’re weaned. Now your chances of catching it are slim, but it will die without milk. Sometimes you can walk straight up to a calf and they won’t move. If you wanted to try, you could try bottle feed it with lamb milk replacer (lamb milk replacer is the closest milk to deer milk)
If you don’t want to do that, let nature take its course, and it’ll unfortunately die of starvation in a few days, maybe a week if it got fed before the mother was murdered.
I hope the Gardaí get the scum that did that

This is absolutely horrendous what is the point in this other than for there own enjoyment. I myself hunt but there is a code you follow only kill what your going to eat never kill a doe with fawns for the obvious reason these are not hunters they are pathetic wastes of space
All I can think of is if the road passes your front garden to erect a big sign that says something along the lines of to the scumbag that is shooting deer on my property I have cctv and have reported you to the Gardaí. Might scare them off doing it again if you leave it up for a week or so. Maybe even install a camera or a fake one. That’s just what I’d do.
What an awful shame. If only we could swap the life of this beautiful creature for the evil mind that killed it.
The parks and wildlife might come take the deer, my brother had a similar situation happen to him. He found the skin and parts of multiple deer outside the gate of one of his fields. There was a bizarre stand off between different gardaí, local authority and some parks and wildlife people.
These people need more than their gun license revoked. Nothing like hurting wildlife needlessly turns my thoughts uncivilised. How spineless must one be?
Set up a trail cam (to see what wildlife is around and not to purposely catch a photo the car in question ) and if you do accidentally get the car give it to the guards. Also chat to your local TD and paper.

If you can catch the fawn, it could possibly be rescued via wildlife rescue, fed by bottle. But you’d have to decide if you want to do that.
Killing a creature for nothing but wretched pleasure is the lowest of behaviours. Fuck those scumbags, I hope their comeuppance is swift and persistent.

They have broken probably 10+ serious laws and they need their firearms taken off them.
