    Sie waren hier vor Dinosauriern, die Biologen verwirren und haben außerirdische Fähigkeiten auf Außerirdische Ebene…

    Ich bin mir ziemlich sicher, dass sie Außerirdische sind.

      I’ve been wondering about platypuses too ever since I found out that they’re venomous.

      Octopuses and platypuses. It’s the puses and I’m not even joking!

    3. This is new info to me and I’m very interested. My wife is a biologist so I’m going to ask her opinion. But pretty fucking crazy thought I like where this is going

    4. I like this theory, although the conditions have to be perfect for any form of fossilisation, which is exacerbated by the fact that octopuses are mostly flesh and no bones/tough tissue. So unfortunately it’s extremely difficult to find fossils and therefore evolutionary direction regardless of panspermia

    5. I have read a paper years ago that stated that octopuses came from a comet that fell in our ocean 600 million years ago, that’s why there is no evolution record of this species.
      They are highly intelligent but their short lifespan and the fact they live in the water deprived them from evolving into a technological civilisation.
      You can’t build tech underwater. You need mining etc…

      Dinosaurs were land-based (except for some marine reptiles and flying ones), while octopuses lived in the ocean, a more stable environment during mass extinction events like the one that wiped out the dinosaurs.

      From a quick google asking how long they live:

      *It varies according to species, but octopuses, both wild and captive, live roughly 1 to 5 years. This short lifespan is a consequence of a reproductive strategy known as semelparity, meaning that octopuses breed only once in their lifetime and die shortly thereafter.*

      Since octopuses live short lives and reproduce quickly, this allows for faster adaptation to environmental changes.

      Apparently, in the absence of humans, they could be the dominant species. Unfortunately, dad ducks right off, and mom dies right after birthing hundreds, so no knowledge is passed down generationally, just genetically:(

      Other animals have camouflage, don’t know on what basis you’re comparing it to military tech

      What kind of octopus fossils are you expecting to find? You know it’s basically just a beak, right?

    11. You do realize that a lot of life came before the dinosaurs? Especially stuff that didn’t have vertebrae, aka invertebrates.

      And yes they were some of the first major complex lifeforms in the early oceans

      Dude, you know shanks has existed since before trees right? Life in the ocean were sprawling with different forms of life long before there were even plants on lans.

      This is the r conspiracy I’ve been missing.

      I absolutely have always been on the side of octopi being a separate life form, or evolved from a separate life form that came here a different way than everything else.

      I feel the same about tardigrades, they can survive an insane amount of super hostile conditions, that would make them perfect to be a species embedded in some sort of space debris

    17. Octopus evolved from shelled [cephalopods](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Endoceras) during the silurian era. They are incredibly smart probably because they have been around for so long. Their intelligence is compatible to monkeys and dolphins. They know how to unscrew lids from jars and open latches.

      Everything evolved out of the ocean though so I’m OK with something this evolved pre existing dinosaurs.

      But also i love my octopus theories and can definitely get behind life being brought to the planet via space debris etc.

      Now, go read the „mountain in the sea“ by Ray Nayler my fellow octopus fans! (Its fiction but some very well)

      Being here before dinosaurs means nothing. Sharks were here before dinosaurs. Are sharks aliens?

      Counter point. All the building blocks of life came here riding on something from the cosmos. Everything is “alien”.
