By unity these leaders are looking to counterbalance U.S influence. They’re strategically looking to align with Asia & Africa. It’s strategic, not ideological. They’re gambling on increasing autonomy through diversification. Trade independence weakens U.S. leverage, a strategy we’re utilizing in Canada now. As far as the rise in global extremism, a decrease in U.S. influence over South America only increases global extremism. Have you spotted the contradiction? See Venezuela aligning with Russia/Iran. See China/Russia gaining a foothold in Nicaragua. See China’s space base in Argentina, as well as their port control investments. See Brazil’s instability and anti-Nato narratives. BRICs de-dollarization is a workaround to the Dollar, making it easier to launder money globally, hide assets and evade accountability. BRICs would also make it easier to finance terror.

Boric is awesome. He’s a rare Latin American leftist willing to call out the Venezuelan and Nicaraguan leftist dictatorships. A truly principled leader.

      The article provides zero substance.

Brazil already has China as its main trading partner and not the US. It’s been that way for at least 15 years when China overtook US in trade volumes back in 2009. We are talking oil, iron ore and agricultural exports – all commodity.

That is simply because US satisfies 90% of its iron ore needs with domestic production. Most of the remaining imports are from Canada, and if Brazil (or Canada) stopped selling it to us completely, we could simply switch to 100% domestic. So there is really not much Brazil can or needs to do economically as a response to the current administration.

Uruguay’s largest trading partner? You guessed it – China!!! Second largest? Brazil! So that pretty much explains why their leader is there.

Now Colombia makes about 30% of its export income from the US. China is second largest, already contributing another 21%. Which means they cannot just start sending all the US bound coffee and flowers to China now, and get paid just as much as they did selling those things to the US. Where can they try and make up the difference? Brazil, of course! Colombian exports to Brazil have been steadily growing for a while, way before the current US administration. For example in 2022 the volumes grew by 32% already!

For Spain the US is not even one of top 5 export destinations. Imports from the US today are only 6.5% from total. So what is their interest here? Banking and financial services, they provide the capital.

And so here you have it. Four nations that don’t / can’t really enact any major changes related to the US trade, and generally aligned with the Brazil / China trade meridian, are shaking their fists at the US. Good for them?

    5. Spain is a f*cking joke, they will be dragging down the EU and NATO very soon
