Those Eiken tests are made by Japanese. I’m sure JLPT isn’t made by Americans.

I recently saw an English test from a university student.
Every single question was…
„…… In Japanese?“
I swear there was more Japanese than English.
Do the people making these tests genuinely not understand the concept of learning a language?
As someone who has lived in Japan for 20 years now, the very first thing you gotta do is STOP thinking in your first language… These guys never stop encouraging and promoting that error.

I remember prepping students for Eiken 3 and asking them the prompt.
> Those who reached Grade 3 are expected to be able to understand and use English related to everyday topics.
Ain’t no fucking way
And if they didn’t know the answer they would just stare blankly at you. Forget about English proficiency, that’s not even acceptable socially at all.
