There are people today who have a hard time seeing that people of any color or nationality, or apparently even rodents, are seen to have an equal value to life.
I enjoyed the movie and can’t imagine it having anything in it that goes against traditionally American (or just human) values when it comes to Superman’s POV.

Not sure where the criticism coming from. Even the Critical Drinker states that it isn’t woke and is a pretty decent movie that only goes astray with Gunn’s habit of undercutting every sincere moment with quips, Marvel-style.

Guy at work told me it’s woke because Superman doesn’t have gigantic bulging muscles.
It’s not woke but has plenty of moments in the movie where there is a clear political statement. For example, the treatment of superman as a straight allegory to immigrants here ( he’s not from here ) and than the scene involving an arrest was clearly a ref to police brutality which is really work. I have no issues with these , but when your entire persona is consumed by flags and thin blue lines, it’s hard to handle criticism .
Being kind to people and trying to help is considered woke

Anything where an immigrant or person of color succeeds at anything is considered “woke”, happy to help.

It’s a good movie. I didn’t love it.. but wanted to. It’s a bit clunky and jams in way too much in. I think they could have dropped the whole two countries at war and added some more time with Clark and the Daily Planet cast.
Agreed. The only bit that could be considered „woke“ is the Isreal v Palestine stuff and honestly being anti-war is more age-depedent than a partisan thing. I know a few MAGA heads that hate the IDF and Bibi.

I am a conservative guy. The movie is not Woke. Anyone who thinks it is, is reaching and only sees things through a political lense.
You can’t make a movie without making some sort of stand, you hope it’s good writing, because preaching movies that are not entertaining in the end suck. But a superhero at the end of the day, is going to be fighting for something. And you hope it’s to fight for the underdogs.
I will give an example. I have friends that won’t watch Sinners. Because they think its going to be some racially preachy movie that white people are the devil. It’s really not, but it is period piece. And lets be real, in a period piece the black perspective was real. That movie is not too preachy either, just a vampire thriller at the end of the day.
It’s easy. People who identify as Republican conservatives are assholes.

When I was a teenager back in 2014 to 2016, I was right leaning because liberals were made to appear like “cry-babies”. You know those YouTube comp vids back then trashing feminists and liberals for being “sensitive” and complaining about silly things?

This week, I saw a tweet with 6K (probably more now) likes complaining about this game Cyberpunk 2077. The main “issue” was that it replaced the male version of the protagonist with the female in the promotional material.
Mind you, you freely create your own character in that game, you control the buttons you press. Absolute man-child.

I have heard so many people who 17 years ago were all progressive, wanting equal rights, ect. Suddenly they hate anything considered „woke“. They say Disney is Woke because of happened from the Lightyear movie. That Reese’s or Snickers is woke because they started doing other flavors of candy bars from carmel to mint. I read a person the other day who called that insurance shouldn’t be so „woke“. It’s their buzz word when they don’t like something or have been told: „Don’t you like to be angry, we sure do! Money for us and zombies don’t stop giving us clicks! Woke! Woke!“ I’m like: „Just stop.“
