    1. Respectfully, Marc Maron seems like the kind of guy that thinks everyone hates him.

Not everyone can like everyone all the time.

Maron seems like the type of guy you really want to hang out with once a year while high.

Maron can be a crotchety asshole according to himself and people he has interviewed. Stewart appears to have a healthy ego. Not shocked they aren’t buddies.

I think Marc Maron is very talented and funny, but yeah, sure, Jon Stewart is a „haircut.“

I love Marc Maron. He shouldn’t worry that John Stewart doesn’t like him. Conan does and Conan is funnier and more talented than Stewart.

    6. I admire Maron’s ability to acknowledge his flaws and apologize. Jon Stewart has no obligation to like him or be his friend just because of that. End of story.

I wouldn’t blame Jon. Marc has always come off as insufferable prick who thinks he’s owed success and hates everyone more successful than him.

    8. Marc Maron is exactly the type of person you’d expect to be annoyed when he discovers some people don’t actually care for him.

Somehow Marc can find a way to say something I agree with while making me wish I didn’t. He just rubs me the wrong way. Can’t put a real finger on why. That’s just how it goes sometimes. So I’m not surprised these two don’t get along.

Respect and not making it bother you does not equal hate. I have acquaintances from 30 years ago where we like say hi and that’s it. We would just rather not spend any energy on it. Just doing our own thing.

Two people don’t like each other? Oh the humanity! How does this happen?

    12. > “I reached out to him, and I remember… he called me back. I was in a hotel room in Portland,” Maron recalled. “And he goes, ‘Hey, you know, it’s, it’s Jon Stewart.’ I’m like, ‘Hey man, how you doing?’” Maron then proceeded to explain the podcast he was doing and invited him to participate. Stewart replied, “I’m not doing that.”

      >”He said, ‘Look, you know, it’s like whatever you’re doing… there’s no love here.’ And then he said… ‘I’m sure what you’re doing is very creative, but… I’m just — there’s no love here.’ And I’m like, ‘Got it, dude.’ And uh yeah… so, I guess it was pretty creative,” Maron said.

Marc admitted to being very jealous of Jon early on in his career, and then later trying to make amends, and this was Jon basically turning him down.

People can definitely change over time—Marc Maron has been pretty honest about how much of an ass he was during his “drinking days,” especially when jealousy made him lash out at guys like Jon Stewart in the ’90s. My friend met Maron during that period and thought he was a real ass back then. Even if Maron’s stopped drinking and tries to be better now, that doesn’t erase people’s memories. So it’s not surprising some folks don’t have the fondest impression of him. The past sticks around, and Maron probably shouldn’t be too shocked if some people still hold onto it.

Didn’t Louis CK hate him too and they made up after the TV show appearance

    15. Going about calling someone a „jewish pandering monkey“ when they gets opportunities over you will do that Marc.

You see a lot of stories of people not liking Maron or Maron not liking them and the only constant is Maron. I can’t think of many stories about people not getting along with Stewart.

    17. Maron’s role in glow felt super autobiographical, but i think his character made more progress than he has. Which is expected, we don’t get neat arcs in real life.

Also his moustache is way better than mine.

As much as I wish everyone I’d meet would always like me, sometimes they just don’t and that’s fine.

    19. Sailor_Thrift on

Marc Maron seems like a whiny bitch, who wants anyone and everyone to participate in whatever tailspin, recovery, redemption, therapy whatever arc he happens to be going through at the time.

It might be easier if he were funny, but he isn’t so it really just comes off as obnoxious.

Something else Jon Stewart and I have in common. Marc reminds me of every old guy at the bars I grew up in hitting on 20 year olds by talking about their shit vinyl collection and shit writer taste like Bukowski and Kerouac, oblivious to the self tell that is.
