could be from the bavarian AFD ( ultraright wing). They have a slogan „schwarz rot gold ist bunt genug“ with the flag just as you have it there. So rightwing reactionary bullshit. Could be wrong though
Rainbow germany
It looks sus whether it’s supposed to be an anti-rainbow or just a random german flag as a profile picture. Red flag, avoid.
I’d say, your associations are feasible. Since there is no official “Stolzmonat” symbol, I’d ask him what it means. It could be that he’d just denies (“I just like my country”) though I don’t know any German having a flag in their profile.
Maybe ask him Question like it’s tradition in your flat, that you visit several CSD parades, if he would join you.
Or in case of question ignore that application
Schlieffen Plan
Don’t choose him as your new roommate, he’s gonna be a pain in the ass.
Edit: my sisters now ex-husband had a similar looking picture in his WA status with a bunch of other lgbtqia-phobic crap.
Ask him, nobody here seems to know the answer
Even if he gives a funny answer or avoids it, its an answer. It is sus, but it might be something harmless.
Right wing or hard core afd would never use german flag to promote their shitty „values“. They hate German flag with this colours as much as nazis did because it represents start of revolution in Germany in 19. century, culminating with Weimar republic. (right wing uses black white and red)
Why should the flag of the country we live in be a problem?
Might be from something like this: [https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRcO7w-X2RT6FrB4l8v0-XvyNmADAcn2N6D7mW18ic4x7IxWRbB](https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRcO7w-X2RT6FrB4l8v0-XvyNmADAcn2N6D7mW18ic4x7IxWRbB)
Hard to say tho. A red flag for me tho after seeing all those Stolzmonat assholes on twitter
Ask the guy. Only they know what they use it for. If he dodges an answer that’d be very sketchy.
Impossible to tell. You have to ask him.
Objectively it could be anything. A cutout of a logo of the auswärtiges Amt. Or some right wing shit. Or just a flag.
I would suggest you ask them whats up with their profile pic.
If they say they are part of an organisation that uses this kind of branding, than I would not mark it against them. (…depending on wich organisation they are in. Naturally.) But if they have no answer or become defensive, that would be a red flag for me.
There are various organisations that use similar, though not exactly the same, logos. Both commercial and polittical on both sides of the spectrum. It also could be a sports thing.
It is generally not normal to display the german flag without context though. And people who do, tend to belong to the more right leaning spectrum of the population.
would you like to be prejudged for having a normal rainbow flag in your profile picture?
After reading all the comments here:
Whats wrong with patriotism?
Replacing the rainbow with the German flag is basically part of everyday right wing brain wash.
It pretty sure means nothing good tbh..
