    1. From Hayley Miller, MSNBC senior blog editor:

CBS announced Thursday that it will air its final season of “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” next year, and MSNBC’s [Joe Scarborough](https://www.msnbc.com/top-stories/latest/texas-flood-response-greg-abbott-football-rcna218000) finds the timing to be especially curious.

Though the [economics of late-night talk shows](https://www.axios.com/2023/04/28/late-night-tv-corden-ratings-decline) are “making less and less sense” for TV networks, the timing of Colbert’s cancellation is “very bad,” Scarborough said on Friday.

The “Morning Joe” co-host pointed to [the recent settlement](https://www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddow-show/maddowblog/paramount-settles-trump-cbs-news-60-minutes-lawsuit-rcna203667) CBS’ parent company, Paramount, agreed to with Donald Trump in a lawsuit he filed over a 2024 “60 Minutes” interview with then-Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris. Colbert had denounced the settlement on his show, calling it a “big fat bribe” as Paramount seeks to merge with Skydance — a move that requires Trump administration approval.

    2. Colbert. Please make a YouTube channel. No one watches basic cable anymore. I’ll follow you there!

He will land squarely on a new highly focused platform that caters to specific audiences. TV. late shows are dinosaurs anyway.

    4. It was perfectly timed if you want that idiot Trump to claim victory on his news war.

      Helps the merger.

“No one watches late night tv” claim the peanut gallery ignoring that HIS numbers were going up.

How this guy still has a show after his “Biden is the sharpest guy in the room” rant is beyond me.

He’s not being helpful, is he? Treads only within his own restrictive, self-preserved, moneymaking „settlement.“

    8. It’s amazing timing, you fools? He’s got ten months to campaign on CBS until he can jump into the midterms. Colbert was built for this, and they just made him a political martyr. The midterm bluewave will crest with Colbert. He’ll end up nominated for president. This is a fascinating twist.

Colbert’s salary is $18 million. Guess who’s paying Trump’s settlement?? Lol

Fuck Joe Scarborough. Ran off to meet Trump the second he’s elected after repeatedly analogizing him with Hitler, called clearly mentally unfit Biden “the best Biden”, a true piece of human garbage.

He also said late night shows are just seen in YouTube clips, so it was inevitable to cancel it as not cost effective. Fuck his sycophantic ass.
