The Carney government needs a forced vote b/c no union would recommend their members sign on for their workplace to be flooded w part-timers and robots to reduce the proportion of full-time staff. These workplace issues should be resolved the usual way through arbitration.
The old joke about public sector unions is that it doesn’t matter how far you push, the state won’t go bankrupt. The Canada Post union is really pushing this maxim to its edge. They seem pretty brazen in trying to force billion dollar deficits on Canada Post every year in the hopes that the feds will never have the balls to shutter it
I just recently learned that Canada Post owns a majority stake in Purolator. I was skeptical when I first heard this but looked it up, and sure enough, Canada Post owns 91%.
