SS: The US government designated The Resistance Front, considered an offshoot of the Pakistani extremist group Lashkar-e-Taiba, as a „foreign terrorist organisation“ over the Apr 22 militant attack in India-administered Kashmir that killed 26 people, Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on Thursday.
Rubio has also called TRF an offshoot to Lashkar e Taiba, which is a first by the USA after India stated the same on January 2023.
Citing the Pahalgam terrorist attack as the reason behind the designation and stating that TRF is a Pakistan based terrorist group, Rubio and USA seems to have sided with India in claiming this to be a terrorist attack by Pakistan based group, and completely rejected Asim Munir’s statement that the attack was a resistance against the so called Indian occupation.
