The technical intern training program should be abolished immediately. Many come to Japan after borrowing money from impoverished countries. If they must be hired due to a labor shortage, the employer should cover the travel expenses.

If you read the article, it’s pretty sympathetic towards her. I don’t feel like her husbands gambling problems warrants her to cheat on the test, and she’s definitely in the wrong for doing that, but…..Over a year in prison!?!? What? For cheating on a test??? Can’t you just take away her visa and deport her? Pretty sure I’ve seen literal rapists in Japan get less time.

I wonder who said that three years of residence was possible in the first place. I think it would be terrible if this was done without any explanation that „it’s a maximum of three years, but in reality it’s only one year.“
I’m Japanese, and I’ve seen this myself. In Japanese government and welfare, the explanation given at the beginning is different from what was initially given, and when I check later, I find that the person who explained it was wrong, or the explanation was misleading. Even when I read the documents, it’s hard to understand. If native Japanese people don’t understand it, it’s even harder for Vietnamese people to understand it.

Also, I think she should get a divorce. Her husband should pay back his debts.

She’s sorry because she got caught.
