Coindesk -Artikel (paraphrasiert die Situation): https://www.coindesk.com/tech/2025/07/16/bitcoin-dev-float-proposal-to-quantum-vulnerable-addres–even-satoshi-nakamoto-s

    Flohs Blog: https://blog.lopp.net/against-quantum-recovery-of-bitcoin/

Quantum Threat Discussion: Jameson Lopp proposes freezing Satoshi Nakamoto (and same-era) wallet addresses. This is **important** meta-discussion.

Most legacy addresses of Satoshi are well known why not exclude these explicitly and other entities who have BTC on their wallets either move or get hacked.

Just to get real here for a moment people who own these addresses are cypherpunks from day 1 you can assume they know perfectly well what they are doing and what’s looming. So they will if they didn’t lose their keys move or already have moved their funds.

Imo it’s ethically and morally safe to do this. Actually based on this when I think about it I’m also cool with generally preventing 04 addresses in general because I don’t believe anyone who fuddled around with BTC at that time can’t tell anyone that they weren’t aware of it or they didn’t know what to do.

    2. Nack on the freeze part.

None of the principles of Bitcoin are broken with quantum computing. He who has the keys is the owner of the bitcoins.

If you lost your keys and can’t move ‚em to a more quantum safe address before quantum computing happens, then you never had them to begin with.

Quantum computing itself shouldn’t be seen as a threat. With new technology also brings new innovations. The old coins could be the carrot on the stick to fund decades of research or even to speed up the race to the first general purpose quantum computer. It’s the new gold rush.

I am also a big believer of cyclical Bitcoin economy. If dead coins occasionally re-enter the economy every ~100 yrs, then the rate of deflation in a fiat free world will be more flat, and the risk of ancient coins coming back 1000 years later enough to buy the whole world 30 times over is lessened. If quantum computing is the means to achieve the first round of that, then let it be.

Just focus on implementing the quantum resistance cryptography for those who are currently in control of their coins, and the free market economy will solve the rest.

The future of money lol. Yea sounds like a really great system. Totally just like gold guys. You know how when you buy gold and then people decide the gold you’re holding isn’t gold anymore. Oh wait.
