I’m a hiker and I find more of these things in Espoo than when I’m out and about – there are plenty of white-tail deer in the city area, and those are a prime target for ticks.

While the vaccination won’t protect you against Lyme Disease, the most common one, it will prevent TBE (tick-borne encephalitis) which is pretty nasty. The ticks that spread TBE have been beginning more common in recent years.

Here’s an older post I wrote, but the advice is still relevant today, and might be useful for you: https://www.reddit.com/r/YouShouldKnow/comments/barw9p/ysk_that_spring_is_coming_and_so_are_ticks_heres/

    3. I have been lucky and my dogs have had zero ticks this year, when previously there have been more than few. There have been less rabbits around my neighbourhood than usual this year, maybe it helps
