      I never understood the point of mandatory indigenous consultations. Either they have property rights in the development of a piece of land like any other landowner or they don’t.

    2. 2% of Canada’s population cannot have a veto over what can help 100% of the country. The red tape and constant need to consult/pay off people is killing Canada.

      I don’t think anyone understands how tough it can be to do business with the indigenous bands. The administrative dysfunction is unbelievable.

      You can’t scrap consultations. In Haida Nation v BC (2004), the SCC determined the Crown has a constitutional duty to consult Indigenous peoples prior to exploiting lands on which they have claims.
