Lots of Icelandic people on Ancestry have 100% Icelandic.

I’m Icelandic Canadian, so to speak, where my great grandmother on my paternal side was born in Iceland. I have 11%, which is close to the 1/8th that you’d expect from someone with a great grandparent with 100% Icelandic ethnicity.

1% could be considered noise, as some people with a combo of Norwegian and Celtic can be similar to Icelandic people. If you don’t have known family history it’s probably noise.

A native Icelander’s family tree is as close to a solved problem as you’re gonna get. We use records, not genetics, to trace our lineage – except for stuff like paternity tests. If you want to find your Icelandic roots, find an Icelander who’s related to you and ask them for their ancestry.
