Why would he want to be with *those* people. Republicans think victims are losers. It’s their fault they got caught up in the flood. Their fault for not being rich enough to help themselves. As far as the gop is concerned, helping people is a “weakness” we need to eradicate from the government.
Vance is terrible in a thousand ways, but I think it’s for the best he’s not with the flood victims. Him visiting the flood region wouldn’t help anything, and it could make things worse – the security circus of having a Vice President (or President) visit would take time and attention away from other things.
