This feels like 2008 all over again, except worse.
All we have to do is show up to Vote in the primaries and THEN follow through by voting in the general. I am an old man and always vote in these for the progress and then best choice. We have to get Republicans out of power. They are destroying our government and pushing racism and fascism in our government.

So are old Democrats. I am in my 70s. My friends feel the same. Teachers, therapists, social workers, veterans…ready for change. Went to 3 protests and belong to Indivisible.
Democrats had a decade to get their ass in gear.
They chose to work for billionaires instead of the electorate. Then when they agree to all the billionaire demands the billionaires choose Republicans anyway. Voting doesn’t mean shit here and I’m tired of putting in the effort.

If they aren’t fighting today, they need to be primaried and replaced.
The biggest issue is that so many are focused on the Mid Term elections…. By then the damage will be irreversible and we may not even be having elections. We need to fight NOW

We need a general strike. A unified show of non-violent resistance by the working and middle class to shut down the country for however long it takes to demonstrate that we have the power. It won’t be easy. It’s going to require that those who can sustains a work stoppage help those who can’t. But the rich and powerful will never cede power until we demonstrate that 1) there are more of us than them, 2) we do all the work, and 3) we’re unified. And as hard as this will be, it’s easier than the violent resistance we’re going to need after billionaire-backed ICE gets $150 billion and we’re living in a police state. #GeneralStrike #TheDNCisDead

Not changing the policies that led to the current situation? Just continue with the neoliberal globalism, but change the facade to make it look younger?
This identity politics thing doesn’t look good. It looks really evil actually.
The old guard isn’t there to lead. Its mostly for themselves to prosper.. Both parties.
We need term limits to help control corruption.
None of this matters. As long as right wing propaganda dominates the social media nothing will change. If anything, going progressive will ensue democrats never win another election again.

The leaders of democratic party could’ve kept their power atop the party and been lauded as saviors of american democracy. They instead chose their donors. Now they are on the chopping block and the harder they attempt to hold on, the more they tarnish whatever their legacy ever was. They dug their own grave and now are too deep to stop digging.
Young Democrats — the ones who reliably don’t show up at the polls buut talk a lot of game and blow up their Insta’s with merch instead.

Don’t worry. The Establishment Dems and their donors will cut this movement down at the knees! How else will Pelosi afford a new summer mansion every year?
It can’t be a rebrand – it needs to be a huge and real shift beyond simple marketing or optics. They need to abandon their neoliberal platform, take a huge step to the left, and start showing that progressive legislation is both possible, achievable and has meaningful impact on people’s lives.
Are democrats ready to have this internal discussion about being critical of the party and enact real change?

It’s inevitable at this point. Two sides of the same coin as far as I’m concerned with these geriatric politicians. They are being confronted by their own mortality and are handling it with less grace by the day, at the detriment of this country. It’s a battle they cannot ultimately win, but one the rest of us they claim to still represent are ultimately paying for
Why such a push for rebrand? I don’t understand the attachment to the name, just form a new party with your ideals, if it resonates with people they will vote. Your party won’t win immediately but in the long term if we have more competitive parties the less radical the swing from year to year and a more competitive system should pull more competitive candidates.

They’re likely all going to die over the next 20 years. Let the kids start their careers and maybe the old guard will be able to witness actual positive change in their lifetime.
