Yeah, if you watch the switchover from 11:58PM to 12:00AM you can see the aspect ratio shifting. So what people haven’t noticed is that at the top on the right corner, there’s some kind of overlay bar with what appears to be playback buttons. I assume this is a recording of the CCTV software showing an overview of all cameras, and I assume that whatever footage shows that overlay bar is a recording of the software and not a recording of the direct feed of the camera. Only after 12:00AM does it become a direct recording of the camera feed. This alludes to them recording not only the camera directly but also an overview of all cameras as backup. I assume this is what the CCTV officer looks at on his screen when monitoring the prison cameras.

So basically they had to stitch together 2 different sources, the direct feed recording and a recording of the overview panel from the CCTV software, and crop the one from the overview recording, to get the most amount of footage for that period of time. That would explain why there’s some minutes missing and such, and would give some credence, if the source lineage can be verified of where each source came from, that they had a legitimate malfunction.
