That’s been the Republican play for decades. Destroy an agency then point at it and say “look it doesn’t work”

This is the plan (Project 2025 and conservatism writ large).
1. Claim that government is disfunctional.
2. Prevent the government from functioning.
3. Declare victory.
4. Dismantle the government because it doesn’t function.
5. Outsource to your contractor friends who will do a worse job at higher cost but set up your golden parachute for later.

It’s so interesting to me. The message here is so clear but maga can’t see it. Noem believes that money spent terrifying immigrants and putting them in concentration camps is far more useful than helping American citizens from natural disasters. The cruelty is so strong and so clear. It’s ok if American citizens struggle as long as there is money to treat immigrants with cruelty. Terrifyingly cruel people in charge and maga will cheer it on.

Drowning the govt in a bathtub. Hold back on providing services then yell about how inefficient the agency is and advocate for shutting it down.

Straight out of the conservative playbook: Hamstring a public agency, then use the inevitable decline in service to justify eliminating it all together. They’ve been running the play against public schools, public pools, public transportation…
