      THIS could actually do something. Not the bill in Congress that’s doomed to die because of the Republican majority.

      Every blue state needs to do this, NOW. It should have been done weeks ago if not even before.

      While you’re at it, use the National Guard to stop any masked people claiming to be ICE agents. If they don’t identify themselves as ICE, how do we know they’re not just random human traffickers taking kids and families off the streets?

      I believe it is completely justified for blue states to consider this an emergency and act accordingly.

      I think the mask is beside the point. They need to display badges with identifying numbers and names.

      Well it is interesting because if ICE won’t follow a state law than why should states help ICE do its job? It kind of supports the point behind sanctuary cities. Why should local tax dollars for local police be used to help federal agents funded by tax dollars?

      States needs to be very vocal about what federal forces are and are not allowed to do. they should be plastering every wall and be on every TV station.

      Masks off and identifications clearly visible. This should be obvious and rigorously enforced. Bodycams too.

      Supremacy clause says no, because those are within the purview of their official duties.  Or at least it can be argued that way to stop courts from enforcement.

      Would ICE have to play by this rule considering its a state level and they are federal?

      With masks off, businesses should deny services to them as well. Hard thing with that is you would need names of people and a database to reference. So not likely to happen but one can dream.

      Considering there’s no visual difference between a masked ICE agent and a masked murderer, their refusal to identify themselves should be met by police with up to maximum force. For all we know they could be kidnapping people specifically to kill them in a secluded area later, which isn’t much worse than what ICE is already doing.

The MELT Act would require agents to uncover their faces and display a visible marker on their uniforms, with violations punishable by a *misdemeanor*. The bill aims to rebuild trust between communities and law enforcement but has drawn criticism for allegedly endangering law enforcement.

      So what happens when police try to police ICE, and ICE in turn tries to police the police? I can’t imagine a police officer getting slammed to the ground and arrested for „interfering“ is going to go over well.

      Great idea, but how do you enforce it? I mean obviously the NYPD aren’t going to. They only like attacking vulnerable people. So who’s going to go up to 6 or 8 of these nazi fucks and say „Take off that mask“. What are they going to do? Arrest them? I imagine Trump and the justice dept are salivating at doing to New York what they’re currently doing to California.

      How? They are doing this to avoid being known. They don’t show badges or identification.

      I’m all for it, but I don’t see law enforcement stepping in to charge them anytime soon. They’re often helping ICE.

      Are they going to get any state or local law enforcement to actually do anything about this?

      I can imagine Trump sending federal agents in to arrest the cops who try to charge ICE. I also cannot imagine any cop actually trying to enforce this rule.
