I’m of the opinion that a short leader face will result in some what I would call joke/sabotage candidates like Ruby Dhalla for the libs
Our convention is gonna happen in March 2026, which should work perfectly to elect a leader coincidentally. At the same time, if we combine that with a reasonably high leadership fee, somewhere around 75k, payable in several installments, it should work out well.
A short or long race isn’t going to change the outcome, since either a good candidate signs up or they don’t. What a long race might do though is cause people to tune out like what happened with the QLP leadership. And realistically this is a minority parliament, and while it is unlikely, they don’t want to be caught flat footed without a leader.
