I wonder what happens when people start dying there. Maybe they’ll try to cover it up or create a distraction, but they probably won’t improve conditions, so it’ll keep happening.

This is well and truly on the way to becoming a concentration camp. The difference is that there are Floridians who are actually proud of detainees being kept in these conditions, and instead of gas, they have alligators.

Remember:
>The Alligator Alcatraz immigration detention facility in Florida is expected to cost approximately **$450 million to operate for a single year**.
Yet, the detainees are not allowed to shower, brush their teeth, or eat food without maggots. And, even then, the detainees are only being fed once a day. So, where is all the money going? FOLLOW THE MONEY!!!
Also, Democratic lawmakers have tried to inspect this facility. But, they were denied entry.

Don’t forget that they turned Gitmo into a concentration camp from immigrants too. Not that it was better before. Don’t forget that this or worse is happening there too, but news isn’t able to make it out.

It’s funny, the Nazis locked up undesirables in camps too… and left them in squalid conditions… before they started murdering people.
The first camps opened in 1933 right after Hitler became chancellor, but the model camps didn’t start up until 1936ish (though Dachau remained open the entire time). After Himler became Chief of German police in 1936, camps were… “purposes built… isolated from population… and the rule of law…”
God that sounds incredibly familiar.

The conditions at this facility are not surprising considering that conditions of other immigration facilities. Even before Noem gutted oversight of ICE detention facilities, ICE detention was plagued with medical neglect, unhygienic conditions, poor food quality, and detainee abuse. Without oversight these conditions have gotten worse. All of this is alarming of course, but to me what’s more alarming is the public response.
I am more alarmed by the joy that some people seem to be taking in the thought that this facility is inhumane, that the people being put in this place are going to be made to suffer. When confronted these same individuals will often justify their position, their joy, by saying „well they are illegal“ as if this makes us any less human. This is why I despise the term „illegal“ and use undocumented, „illegal“ gives people something to hide behind, „they’re ILLEGAL so they’re criminals, so they deserve it“. It’s honestly torn to shreds my idea of what being an American is. I have spent the last decade fighting for legalization, $11,000 deep into a process to earn a green card, but this…It makes me question if I want to be an American.

Reading the above “food with maggots” reminds me if how the government used to spoil the food on purpose to give to Native Americans as a further act of humiliation as they kept getting moved to more barren and barren land and their livelihoods were decimated. Most of these “immigrants” although not born where the current USA border boundaries are a lot of them are of indigenous ancestry native to the “American” continents.

We’re going to need Nuremberg pt 2 after Trumps done. We cannot let people like DeSantis and Noem off the hook because they aren’t the POTUS. These people are fascists shredding the constitution and international laws. These are concentration camps. This is an ethnic cleansing.

What a disgusting time in America. Our list of atrocities as a nation couldn’t be a foundation of learning? And here I thought maybe we wouldn’t do concentration camps again
