Time flies! I almost forgot Doug Ford’s communications chief is dating someone that pretends to write unbiased political opinion pieces for the bird cage liner known as the Sun.
The culmination of the housing market crash, Trump tariff decimation of the and the weight of immigration on social services is going to make the next couple of years a disaster in Ontario.
The CBC may have a problem with “diversity of opinion”, but so does the Toronto Sun, and Brian Lilley isn’t exactly renowned for being unbiased.
I mean, if the CBC had fired Rosemary Barton, and she went on a rant about how CBC was too focused on representing conservative voices, would Lilley have written an opinion piece praising the CBC for its devotion to representing diverse opinions? Or would ha have taken it as another opportunity to shit on the CBC for having the temerity to be publicly owned?
I wish the article included some examples of the specific diversity of opinion that CBC was uncomfortable airing or cut from broadcasts.
Because there are a lot of outright lies that get aired on some broadcasters couched as “just my opinion, or just asking questions” and I would prefer a national broadcaster not peddle in disinformation and misinformation.
But the Toronto sun article doesn’t provide any specifics so I can’t actually get a sense of the specifics that CBC took issue with.
Wow, so much to unpack here. Not least of all is the hilarious irony of Brian Lilley and the Toronto Sun claiming another media outlet lacks a diversity of opinions.

The CPC „boycott“ of CBC goes back to the Harper era, it has nothing to do with Trudeau. Conservatives just hate the media because they don’t like answering questions and being accountable.
