Some of the country’s most powerful Republicans are getting blasted for their limp response to the deadly floods which ravaged Texas on Friday.
Asked what Congress is doing to help disaster victims during “Fox News Sunday,” House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) said, “In a moment like this, we feel just as helpless as everyone else does … all we know to do at this moment is pray.”
Yeah but Riley Gaines can get second place now so all is good right?

„Thoughts and prayers.“
The incredible irony is, there’s literally answers to all those prayers right within reach. Buuuut, they involve doing things that will make the NRA and oil executives unhappy. So, we can’t have those.

I’m surprised that kids died and Republicans gave thoughts and prayers. Wait, no I’m not. They should be forced to watch the videos of the cabins floating away.

This doesn’t even make sense. Theyre praying that God does what? Undo the natural disaster that struck? Are they questioning God’s infalliblity???

Man, I really feel that this might be and should be the tipping point for people and thoughts and prayers.
At one point in time, I did at least genuinely believe that a lot of the people with those responses did indeed put some thought into the matter. I no longer think that that is the case and that it is just an automated response.
Even if that’s your whole thing like hey, there’s nothing I can do. But I offer you my genuine emotions and sympathy and condolences. Then at least say that cuz thoughts and prayers are this point are worse then just shutting the fuck up

Shame these people likely voted for Trump to gut the NWS and NOAA at the federal level and for Republicans at the state level to strip any sort of emergency notification system.
And before the “act of God” comments, Texas can send a statewide alert out immediately after a cop gets injured.
