Sunburn is primarily caused by UVB rays. They penetrate the skin, damage the DNA in your skin. Your body sees this as harmful and releases prostaglandins and cytokines in response to said damage. More blood flows to that area causing swelling, heat and redness. The severely damaged skin cells die off.
Temperature has absolutely nothing to do with whether or not one gets a sunburn.

I’m super tan and according to ancestry I have 85% Ashkenazi DNA. I have photos of my great grandfather and he is very dark as well. Everyone in my family has dark hair/dark eyes and olive complexion. I find it hard to believe that my siblings and I (5 of us) all got the genes from our Mizrahi side and 0 from the more dominant side which is Ashkenazi. It even says on my ancestry results Ashkenazi with origins from Israel.
