      My kid is walking in a parade. I’m wearing a “you matter” shirt. No red white or blue for me, not even any of the fun hats. I’m saving those for when we reclaim our country.

      This is as much of a useless protest and waste of time as the Occupy movement was a decade ago.

      Anyone remember that? Nationwide protests about wealth inequality and a massive sit-in in NYC that drew the attention of the world for a while? Gave us the term 1% to refer to the ultra wealthy?

      Accomplished NOTHING. Wealth inequality is even worse now than it was then. Billionaires have *far* more money than they did and are now directly running the government. Elon was given access to the entire federal government and its data on every US citizen. Zuckerberg was allowed to stroll into a military meeting about fighter jets despite having ZERO reason to be there or the right security clearance. POTUS‘ cabinet is made up of billionaires and millionaires and TV personalities.

      Remember the Women’s March? Accomplished NOTHING. People voted Republicans into even more power and now abortion is being criminalized all over the country and there have already been women who have died as a result of it.

      I grew up being taught that peaceful protest was democracy in action, that it was the will of the people being heard.

      The truth is when every branch of the government is controlled by people who are either blatantly corrupt or willing to ignore/cover for those who are, peaceful protests do nothing.

      No Republican congressman is going to grow a conscience because of this. No Supreme Court Justice is going to stop handing Trump everything he needs to become a dictator. Trump sure as hell isn’t losing any sleep over people spending their day out in the heat being mad at him.
