Last time I went to see a movie it started 45 minutes after the published start time. Never again.
Wondering why box office is down? Gee, what could it possibly be?
Yeah I’m all set- not sitting through 45 min of ads and then having to pee mid-movie bc I’ve been in the seat for 3 hours.
And I love trailers. But 3-5 is sufficient. I don’t need Nicole Kidman talking at me or other stupid ads.
Emagine theaters are better anyway. Even if you have to sit through the CEO’s sappy tribute to going to the movies with his mom.
This is what I like about reserved seating at Regal. Not sure if AMC has done the same. But Regal you get your reserved seat and can come in whenever you want without worry about finding a seat. PLUS if you get the RPX you have reclining chairs and a table to eat at.
I used to love going to the theatre. I can honestly say I haven’t been since the Vid and other than the popcorn I haven’t missed it anyways.
Just don’t show up on time. Problem solved
AMC just figured out how to make an already struggling movie business even worse
As long as the theater has reserved seating more ads are literally not a problem. You bought your seat, you can waste as much time as you want before heading to your seat if you don’t want to sit through the pre-roll and trailers.
This is why people often wait for streaming.
AMC theater near me is absolutely awful hope it closes.
Well I sure as shit didn’t buy a $24 ticket to sit in commercials. I could get 2 streamers for a month at that price. So yeah it does ruin the experience

Until movie theaters limit trailers to 2 before the feature I’m just going to stay home and watch it on streaming.
The sad part is most people are OK with 10 minutes of previous cause you want to see what’s happening and upcoming movies, etc.
I have no problem with Nicole Kidman. I fucking hate that patronizing bullshit ad that is at the beginning of every movie I see at AMC. I’m already here!
They were even k with people DYING during the pandemic, so I don’t see the big deal about advertising, because no one should be going there ever again.

Regal is just as bad. 35mins at my local theater. I don’t leave my house until the movies official start time. There’s 10-15mins of ads and then 20mins of trailers (also ads).
They’ll delay the movie for 30/45 minutes but refuse to give us an intermission for 3 hour movies.
I think this is a good idea. I like commercials. I’m a proud consumer. I’m always looking for new products and services to purchase.
Seriously!!! I went to see 28 Years Later this past Tuesday. The show time was 4:30p, the movie didn’t actually start until 5:04p. I even came 15 minutes late to avoid all the previews! I was seriously like WTF!
Just show up later, we know there is 20 minutes of crap so we hit that window at our leisure
I can’t really remember the last time I saw a movie. The volume is deafening and it doesn’t add to the experience to have to wear ear plugs.
And I’ll continue to ignore them and play on my phone until the movie starts just like I do with the current ads.
How bout we limit trailers to 25-30 seconds. That way they don’t spoil shit, enticing movie goers to know more, and it will start the movie in a reasonable time
I went to a 10:30a show on Saturday. Got there 5 minutes early because I like to see previews. Commercial were on til the lights dimmed at 10:35 and the movie didn’t start til 11:02. I didn’t pay for a movie ticket, spend money on gas to drive to and from the theater to have my time disrespected with copious amounts of ads. Regal isn’t this bad yet so I’ll be sticking with them going forward.
$5 Movie ticket + commercials is a maybe. $20 Movie Ticket + commercial = Hard Out.
While I really hate having up to a 30-minute delay of the published start time, I’ve been showing up to the movies 20 minutes after so I’m only waiting maybe 5 – 10 minutes before the start time.

AMC has had up to 30 minutes of ads and previews since before covid.
One of the reasons we barely go is because of the 30+ minutes of commercials. I do not mind a few trailers and a quick commercial for the food in the lobby but that is about it.
You put ads all over tv and cable tv so I dropped my subscription. You try to add ads to my streaming services I will unsubscribe. You try to force me to watch ads at the theater for 30 minutes and I will quit going. Either charge what you need for the service to exist without ads or I’ll do without.

They’ve been doing this for at least a decade now. If you really hate trailers that much, just show up 20 minutes later. You can handle 10-15 minutes of previews. I’m tired of people acting like every little inconvenience in life is unbearable.
I always aim for 20 minutes after the set start time. Gives you a few minutes for bathroom and then concessions if I’m feeling particularly masochistic. People who show up at the stated start time are wild
Why stop there? Why not fill the lobby with kiosks for cel phone cases and fake designer sunglasses?
I’ll finally be on time to the movie!
