Just because the temperatures are below the boiling point of water doesn’t mean the planet is habitable. Planets are hot when they form (and are the easiest to directly image as a result), and there is a period where they have temperate conditions.
But this is a gas giant planet that’s orbiting about 50 AU from its host star, a red dwarf less than 7 million years old. It’s not going to be in that temperate region long enough to have life, and it will very quickly (on astronomical terms) drop well below freezing before it could possibly form, if gas giants can form life.
It’s a bad headline (and exerpt in the article) that makes a large leap to generate clicks.
