tldr; A U.S. bankruptcy court has allowed Celsius to proceed with its $4 billion lawsuit against Tether. Celsius alleges that Tether violated their contract by liquidating 39,500 BTC too quickly to recover an $812 million debt during Celsius‘ collapse. The lawsuit centers on whether Tether breached a 10-hour waiting period specified in their agreement. While Celsius has repaid most creditors, the case could uncover potential misconduct. Tether denies wrongdoing, calling the lawsuit a ’shakedown.‘ The outcome could have significant implications for the crypto industry.

    2. Just to point out an inaccuracy in the article. „Celsius has already paid off 93% of its creditors“ should be „Celsius has already paid A PORTION of claims to 93% of its creditors“. I believe that the pro rata payments have amounted to roughly 79% (in USD terms), with around 14% of that paid in stock in the new mining company.

Therefore if Celsius wins or settles there will certainly be more coming creditors way, and 1/3 of any settlement will go to the lawyers representing the litigation trust. I’d guess that a settlement is likely as the litigation trust is well funded and it seems likely that Tether has some liability here.

Will be good if screwed over clients get something out of this, but most likely get eaten away with lawyer fees and tax. But good to know there’s potential for another distribution.
