A good portion of what already hurts productivity, entrepreneurship & capital investment is the existence is the higher number of internal trade barriers that exist in Canada relative to other peer countries. While a lot of progress is being made presently, we can’t let Ottawa & provinces rest on their laurels until all barriers are completely removed.
Yeah, I agree. The funding and other supports, to start is virtually non-existent in this country.
Despite lots of opportunities – geographical proximity to markets, resource richness etc.
I bet you there will be a lot of complaints about „starting“ and no help. But I can tell you that someone already established has zero government help and has for 10 years. Trudeau slashed every capitalization method Harper era entrepreneurs utilized. BDC strips the cash flow with high rates, as they fund high risk starts. Basically once you’re established you are at the mercy of the big banks. But there are lots of black holes of zero funding with them as well.
The reason this country lacks productivity in my opinion is the fact that capital must sit and wait for opportunities. Rather than deploying capital earlier with government assistance.
Take a look at the SBA in the US for a strong and vibrant entrepreneur focused environment.
They should make it so that the first LLC a person creates is free (along with like 3 NUANS searches) with something like a 10K fine if a company/person abuses it (e.g. a company uses an employee to register another business for them then the company would be fined $10,000).
More capitalism is not the solution. I cut myself with a knife I didn’t cut myself again to see if it would feel better.
IMHO, the best way to make 15-minute cities is to return to a Mom-and-Pop economy. My neighbourhood is full of old buildings that used to be Mom-and-Pop stores, restaurants, service providers and other businesses. It was actually fuel economy and big multi-nationals that put the nail in the local neighbourhood services. Such an economy would also spur entrepreneurship.
I would also like to see a strong effort to pull a rural economy out of the black hole that is the urban economy. Small towns are dying due to a lack of jobs, opportunities and youth.
Lmao all the entrepreneurs went to USA. Only ones left are people trying to swap houses with each other or oligarchs abusing society and their positions
