I thought it was introduced on purpose as a bargaining chip so that when it was rescinded, Canada could claim it was doing so for the US?

Do you really think that that they dropped this tax without getting anything in return? The globe headline insinuates Carney simply backed down to Trump. We’re in the middle of trade negotiations. Canadian media just chomping at the bit to paint Carney as weak when in fact, they have no idea what they’re talking about. Let’s evaluate the final trade deal once it’s done and kick it off with this kind of nonsense opinion reporting
