Romania has chosen Israel’s Rafael to supply its short and very short range air defense system, likely the [Spyder](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SPYDER), in a deal worth €1.9 billion ($2.2 billion).
This will become Israel’s second-largest defense export ever, after the $3.5 billion Arrow 3 sale to Germany.
The Spyder system offers versatile protection against drones, aircraft, helicopters, and short-range missiles, using Python and Derby interceptors.
Rafael beat out major competitors from Germany and France thanks to its advanced „All in ONE“ configuration, which integrates radar, sensors, command systems, and interceptors on a single vehicle.
