Anfangen. Ich unterstütze Armenien in dem Sinne, dass Artsakh Teil Armeniens sein sollte. Und das war’s. Was ich ansprechen möchte, ist die Tatsache, dass die meisten umstrittenen Gebiete außerhalb von Nagorno-Karabach früh am Sieg in Armenien sein sollten "zurückgekehrt" nach Aserbaidschan, während Armenien Lachin, Nagorno-Karabach und wichtige Stätten wie Dadivank und Tigranakert von Artsakh hielt. Was ich für völlig respektabel finde, und dies wurde in Earle Land-for-Peace-Gesprächen gedrängt, darunter die Erkennung des armenischen Völkermords. Aber dies änderte sich in Armenien, um das Land wie immer armenisch zu halten, und die Armenier setzten die Länder, einschließlich der Armenier aus der Diaspora, dem Festland, Georgien usw., ebenfalls kein Problem, aber es kam mit den Kosten für entfremdete Aserbaidschanis, die es auch als Zuhause zählten. (Wer ist immer noch nicht darum, vom Aliyevs -Regime nach Artsakh zurückzukehren.) Während das ein Problem ist, möchte ich mich auf die Tatsache konzentrieren, dass dies die Wahrheit wurde, wir vergessen die Ursprünge schnell und gehen zu neuen nationalistischen Ideen, die am Anfang nicht das Ziel waren. Ich weiß, dass das nicht so groß erscheint wie ich es mache, aber ich kann nicht alle Wörter in meinem Kopf oder Ideen herausholen. Aber für diejenigen, die verstehen, was ich meine, können Sie Ihre Gedanken geben? Ich habe das Gefühl, dass wir leicht von unten auf die Erde gehen, Gerechtigkeit, die zum Nationalismus sucht, der auch als Gerechtigkeit getarnt ist und die Armenier, Aserbaidschänse usw. vergesse, die starben. Ich hörte auch, dass die Armenier auf dem Festland versprochen wurden, Ressourcen zur Aufrechterhaltung des Lebens zu versprochen, wenn sie geleere Städte besiedelten. was ich sehr schmutzig und das Gegenteil unserer Bewegung finde. Ich fühle mich wie wir "verdünnen" Geschichte in gewisser Weise mit neueren Ideen, die nicht die Ursprünge widerspiegeln, die wir ignorieren. Wir erkennen unser Unrecht auch nicht auf seltsame, hartnäckige Weise. Es wird mir krank, wie Pan-Turks in extremen Fällen den Genozid und die armenische Geschichte des Armenierns und der armenischen Geschichte verweigern. Was macht uns besser als ihre Moral, wenn wir auch leugnen? Ich denke, wir sollten unser Unrecht akzeptieren und stolz darauf sein, dass wir Armenier sind und Gerechtigkeit für ihr Unrecht wollen. Ich möchte, dass UD stolz darauf ist, unser Unrecht, unsere Geschichte und Kultur zu erkennen. Ich werde auf Frieden drängen, der mit der Schaffung einer Freundschaft mit der Türkei einhergeht, die auf der Anerkennung des Völkermords basiert und dies ein für alle Mal beendet. Wenn jemand wiederholen kann, was ich meine, oder mir sagen, was Tatsache ist oder nicht. Teile deine Meinungen respektvoll, weil meine Meinung nicht so hart oder radikal ist, wie ich denke, ich mache es so. Wenn Sie also Ihre teilen können und ich sage, wenn ich zustimme oder nicht, wäre ich sehr dankbar. Und auch, wenn Sie mir Fragen zu getrennten Angelegenheiten stellen möchten. Armenia didn’t resettle the lands. In fact the 5 regions which were supposed to be returned were underdeveloped for that reason. Those 5 regions were always there to be returned to Azerbaijan. Also, Armenia didn’t fight for Artsakh to be part of Armenia, but so Artsakh Armenians aren’t ethnically cleansed and they can have their independence. It was never a land dispute, it was a dispute over not being slaughtered by a dictator. There is no cover up, just being poorly informed.
Armenians convinced themselves that Russian arms and Russian military might were all their own, rather than on loan or sold as benefits Russia. The Russians have always viewed us as quarrelsome, emotional, easily manipulated people, and we have done everything to prove them right.
An entire nation of Armenians, especially political decision makers and voting adults, did not collectively have the slightest suspicion that a country with endemic corruption that produces and does nothing of value to the whole world would not be able to supervene and override international law that recognised NK as the territory of Azerbaijan.
Part of this was the excess with which some of the Armenian regular and irregular forces conducted themselves, e.g. Khojaly. What you describe is just part of the broader picture of Armenians indulging their urges and emotions with no regard for the future or for how their actions will be perceived internationally and in terms of international law.
The lack of intelligence with which the Armenian public and military and civilian leadership had conducted itself is a sign of our own collective ineptitude, greed and gullibility. Armenians need to undergo a complete national re-education.
If they were normal neighbours then we would have never needed to retake the seven surrounding regions because we wouldn’t have needed to protect the Armenians of NKAO. It is Azerbaijan that forced Armenians to take matters into their own hands. It doesn’t matter at all whether these territories were populated by Armenians or not.
The fact that Azerbaijan ethnically cleansed the longest continuously inhabited Armenian region just reinforces our claim on the seven surrounding districts and shows that we will need them the for future resettlement of NKAO as well.
Whether it is moral or not should not even be a thought that we have, we do not have the privilege of being able to choose to keep moral standards or to not keep them. Our neighbour is not Slovakia or Lithuania, our neighbour is a country whose entire identity quite literally revolves around aiming to destroy us and appropriate our culture and our land. To even think about closing Artsakh’s chapter is not only a disgrace to our people but will also weaken our role in the region significantly. This is not how history will end.
The matter with Turkey is entirely different. We need to have more than excellent relations with Turkey and have to position ourselves as a partner in the region. The closer relations we have with Turkey, the better. Not only will their position towards us soften which will eventually help their own society heal from genocide denial, but most importantly it will put Turkey in a position where Azerbaijan loses it’s significance for Turkey beyond cultural and some economic reasons.
Armenia will not be able to even think about retaking Artsakh if the Turkey factor is not neutralised. The Turks need to know that Armenia will never stand in opposition to them and will never join any anti-Turkish platform or engage in any endeavours that go against Turkey’s core interests.

I get what you’re saying. Whether this was done intentionally at an institutional or state level, I don’t know. But the concept of blurring the lines between NK and the occupied territories. At an official level those lands were always supposed to be returned. Armenia never argued with that. Maybe some ignorant people on the street didn’t know. But then, political ignorance is very common around the world, nothing surprising.
My personal opinion is that a land swap should have been organized. NK in its form is a vulnerable, undefendable piece of land. Armenia should have just stripped all the monuments and get a promise from the Azeris to not destroy the churches. We can’t save every monument outside of Armenia. Many ancient Jewish sites outside of Israel were also destroyed out of spite, by Arabs. This is just a bitter reality. We can’t invade everywhere that wants to destroy Armenian culture.
The fate of the surrounding regions was never the critical point of disagreement of the negotiations. Azerbaijanis would not have any less bloodthirsty if they had been returned. The international community would not have been any more sympathetic either, (anyone who says otherwise is lying).
