I’m sure the government takes stuff like this seriously, that’s why we have a dedicated panel for… oh wait, no they don’t.
This will be classified as a male victim of a VAWG offence. Police will receive no specific training on how to support male victims and society will continue to view these offences as less serious, perhaps even with blame and malice.
Seems the church is no different to most large companies with a robust HR department. Dismiss all the allegations against a person in the more senior position, then make up a load of ‘concerns’ about the more junior persons performance to move towards dismissal.

So she’s only sorry for actions taken against the person she was convicted for stalking, but not the people that she abused and bullied without consequences? Nice.
Also Bishop who is in line to be the next Archbishop of Canterbury refusing to hear complaints against someone on the Archbishop judging panel… That’s great…
Im not a Christian, but bc i grew up going to cofe school, and my dad had so many horror stories about growing up Catholic, i always had this idea that the cofe were fairly chill and cool, but damn, have the last few years, and this story too, killed that idea for me. Im happily a Muslim, but it seems like the only Christian group worth its salt are the quakers

I know judges hands can be a bit tied due to the sentencing guidelines but for what she put him through for nearly 2 years that is a mad sentence. At the very least she should banned from contacting him for life.
Ohhh I used to follow him on twitter, he wrote poetry (Jesus at the Gay Bar is an amazing poem, it’s really lovely) and just generally seemed like a nice lad, really sincere and earnest (in a good way). I have had issues with some Christians (was brought up as a fundamentalist) so it was really heartwarming to read his particular take on it all which was very progressive and welcoming. Of all the people for this kind of horrible thing to happen to this seems just so unfair. 🙁
I’ve just read this article. Fuck me. The Bishop of Leicester, who is the frontrunner to be the next Archbishop of Canterbury, refused to sack the woman doing the stalking and accused the victim of **witchcraft**.
Agents of a state religion stalking someone and accusing them of witchcraft. We’d be very quick to condemn this if it happened in, say, Iran.
In a world with out organised religion, Venessa Pinto and Martyn Snow would’ve been sectioned and ostracised many years ago. Absolute head cases that should not be children

Absolutely horrifying. The church encouraging, promoting and covering up for abusers, what a surprise. Simply disgusting.
How this woman didn’t get charged explicitly for defamation I do not understand. And getting a community order / community service for doing so is an absolute joke. She should have been locked up.
Immense sympathy for the victim.
