They know if they talk about him in terms of policy he will only get more popular as will his ideas.
It’s crazy because Mamdani himself never even used “globalize the intifada” he just said it was a phrase used by Palestinians to indicate a desire for independence.

When my uncle waves his confederate flag, it doesn’t matter that he is proud of his great grandfather’s heritage. What matters is that it can reasonably be interpreted as “I long for the time when slavery was legal.” And it’s offensive as fuck.
Similarly when Muslims chant “Globalize the Intifada”, it doesn’t matter that they mean “uprising”. The word has historical connections to a period where Muslim jihadis killed Jewish civilians in terror attacks in Israel and across the world. And it’s offensive as fuck.
Mamdani erred by not denouncing it.
