what benefit is there to deport a working non-criminal person that is in the country simply trying to have a better life ?
Of course they do. Most Americans are not insane, if misinformed by the billionaire-owned media.
If they see clips of violence 24/7 and get told this is how immigrants behave, they’re going to panic and get caught up in mass hysteria.
If you tell them their neighbors they’ve known for decades who babysit their kids are immigrants who would be deported, they’re going to be upset and confused.
Most Americans have been told by the media that these are two different groups of immigrants and the law can easily distinguish between them. They’ve been lied to.
But their voting habits say different.
if they’re here illegally and not a violent criminal (which most aren’t even close), fine them if you really must but then put them on the path to legal status – and no funny business. we know what kinda shit immigration services pulls on these people trying to stay legally. There are good people who live and work here and pay into the system. Why would you want them out? What benefit does removing them from the country generate and what harm is going to be realized by providing them a path to legal status?
It’s quite remarkable to be over 5 months into this administration and this is one of the first articles that even touches on actual policy choices or options regarding immigration laws. (It’s a poll result, so barely).
Immigration policy has been basically stagnant in the US since 1986. The agency tasked with immigration enforcement is newer than the latest meaningful updates (ICE created in G. W. Bush era 2003).
Because *most* Americans aren’t racist, xenophobic fuck-knuckles like fucking fascist trump. As always, he lies.
But *God fucking forbid* they express those feelings by actually voting for the person who was planning to have a pathway to citizenship and *not* for the guy who has spent a decade now being obsessed with mass deportations.
If you find yourself wondering why the US votes the way it does, remember that ~20% of the population still thinks the sun revolves around the earth.
And before anyone outside of the US gets too excited, that number is fairly consistent across the world. And don’t look into flat-earther numbers, it will just make you depressed.
Yeah…. The average voter doesn’t understand how difficult this task is. Most also can’t fathom the thought that it that it is by design …
If only we could all get together and vote in an election where this is one of the major issues up for a debate. That would be a good idea.

This has been common knowledge poll wise for a few years at least now… but we can’t have things in the middle compromising anymore… it’s either far left think or far right thinking; because why would we talk to each other to come to solutions?
