Shitty headline a la typical Newsweek. This reads like he’s going to owe approval.

I don’t believe Texas will ever vote blue again but how funny would it be if Trump is the reason Texas goes blue? Trump would never get over it.

People mistakenly seem to think his loud cult represents the majority of people who voted for Trump. A number of people simply said „prices are too high and Trump and is a businessman so he should be able to fix that.“ It was an idiotic impulse from these voters, but a very distinct one from his loud cult followers.
He’s not remotely delivering on that and we shouldn’t be surprised people are disappointed (despite this outcome being very predictable, obviously).
The problem with conservatives is they make two assumptions. One is that they’re smart and the other is that Americans are dumb.
As they’re finding out, both are wrong.
Honestly metrics like these don’t mean anything to me anymore.

2. We saw how the election projections were too. I just don’t trust political statistics anymore. I’m sure people are angry I just don’t know how many and I can’t bring my self to trust anyone who gives me a number because I feel like everyone is biased now.
Texas is a largely nonvoting state. The opposition party has failed to energize the vote.
Tomorrow it will be a different story. Don’t count on Texas.
Texas would still vote for him by a depressingly large majority.
Hard to take any polls seriously when all I heard in the lead up to the election was how all of the polls were trending towards Harris.
He should be awaiting sentencing for 98 different felonies not in the White House. These imbeciles already ruined our country by voting for him and there’s nothing they can ever do to make up for it.
As someone from Texas, who lives in a blue city, it is incredibly frustrating to read these comments.
All of our major cities are blue, and we have to deal with extreme gerrymandering. I genuinely do not believe that Texas is a majority red state anymore. All of our major cities had a great turnout for the No Kings Protest, and there were tons of protest across the state in smaller”red” towns. It’s so demoralizing to know that people are putting their heart and soul into changing the state and everybody blames the actions of our politicians on our people.

The suburbs have largely flipped from red to blue. My county just flipped this last election (first time ever). People are pissed about the direction we are going. Locally we have voted out very conservative school boards who have tried to implement outlandish policies, including forced disclosure if a child wants to use a different name or pronoun. People are done as the government no longer represents its constituents.

These stories are pretty meaningless, IMO. A huge chunk of Americans – 10% at least but probably closer to 20% – don’t really need to approve of most of the Republican agenda to vote for them. They just need to feel like Republicans are visibly implementing policies that will hurt the people they hate, which is why performative cruelty by ICE and other agencies that will get TV coverage is the main thing that Trump 2.0 is bringing to the table.
Trump: “ I’ve never heard of this Texas, I’ve never been there, there’s probably some good people, but a lot of gangs come across the border, they rape, they come from asylums, but maybe some are coming to work I don’t know, but no one knows more than me, and I don’t know about Texas“
Look at the metrics for past elections in Texas. The metropolitan areas always vote blue. The rural areas vote red and have close to 100% turnout. They vote based on tradition, not on platform, policy or logic. They will continue to vote red forever. It’s in their dna at this point.
These pole gotchyas are the second dumbest thing posted in r/politics right behind the gotchya headlines. Not news. Not even honest politics half the time.

Thats about as helpful as regretting firing your handgun inside the grocery store. And the real problem? Texas will fire that same gun again and again, anytime it’s given the opportunity.
They couldn’t have noticed he was a crap leader with racist tendencies and no clue on economics 8 months ago??? I’m guessing they were all pleased about the various groups he was going to punish before getting a clue they were in one of those groups.
