    1. Not wanting the majority of immigrants/FTWs/“students” coming from one specific region in one specific country is not hate. It’s supporting a multicultural Canada.

There are a lot of dimensions to this but one dimension of it is our horrible immigration system.

We allowed the business lobby to literally structure our immigration system only for their benefit. Many times at expense of vulnerable citizen demographics.

The Temporary Foreign Worker Program/LMIA Process, International Mobility Program/PGWP, International Student Program, and other federal and provincial equivalent pathways into this nation have in many cases been reduced to nothing more than cheap exploitable labour pipelines.

These frameworks were utilized to exploit foreign workers for cheap labour and further weaponized to harm the fair and honest bargaining power of all workers. In particular this was used against some of our most vulnerable working segments like low income workers, gig workers, and so forth.

You add on that many of these vulnerable segments were dealing with the worst of the housing crisis, infrastructure strain, and wage suppression realities and you have a perfect storm of alienation, pain, anger, anxiety, and general frustration and stress.

Then „leaders“ in power that rationalized it all away, minimized it, or worse ignored/dismissed it entirely and you had bad actors come in and pump themes of horrific racism and xenophobia.

It didn’t help that the media has pumped lowest common denominator and one dimensional thinking/dialogue and be extension politics so we can’t discuss complex and nuanced subjects with some standards.

A perfect storm in so many ways and sadly a lot of people are really hurting because of it.

Immigration and Immigrant should not be dirty and stigmatized words.

Outside of the First Nations and Indigenous Peoples we are all immigrants and or from immigrant families. This should be a place of solidarity but that will never happen as long as the business lobby corrupts our immigration system and turns everyone against each other for their purposes.

We are heading down the same path the EU did when they had unprecedented levels of migration from the Middle East, a government that refuted all criticism as racism and xenophobia, and now struggling with the social ramifications of such policies.

The only difference here is that people will not be nearly as sympathetic as the Europeans.

The EU bore this migration as the aftermath of the Arab Spring and ISIS. People literally flocked to Europe in droves, on boats and rafts, etc to escape. These South Asian immigrants? They hoped on a plane here. They weren’t running away from a war.

And unlike the Europeans, whom had different governments and also centralized policy decision out of Brussels, the LPC has been in charge this whole time.

When Freeland said we had the “social capacity” for more immigration, it became abundantly clear that we were not doing this solely for economic reasons, but for *social progress*. The Liberals are great at turning things into a culture war by their own incompetence and ego.

We are already starting to see the social ramifications. We are already having Sikh vs Hindu protests, countless stories on Reddit about South Asians discriminating for their own kind in housing, etc.

Any post on Instagram I see with anyone who remotely looks Indian. Has the worst comments ever. Literally everything. It’s disheartening and sad. Sure there are bad apples but that applies to every single race. But holy shit it’s crazy.

Trudeau’s fault. Brought in the worst from their country without any background checks. He’s the reason for South Asian hate spreading around the world, not just Canada.

We should have per-country immigration limits. No more than 10% of permanent residents should come from any given country in any given year.
