I really do wonder if her father knew or not, being on your death bed and still saying there’s no way that’s true strikes me like he might’ve not known, but it sounds closer to me that he didn’t know until he had already raised her and he started deflecting the idea of it being possible because he didn’t want to believe he raised his daughter who was someone else’s kid.
